The Avro Lancaster is the most iconic bomber ever to have worn the markings of the Royal Air Force. This legendary aircraft was the mainstay of Bomber Command throughout World War II and served throughout the war with distinction. This hardback book looks at the role of the aircraft and features over 70 illustrations of the Lancaster. It also includes cutaways that show the structure of the aircraft that demonstrate what made this such a unique aircraft.
I found this to quite an informative little book - obviously it won't please the over zealous 'anoraks' of course but what ever does. For such a small book it contains enough information without getting too technical - I bought it to pass on to a friend who is building a wooden scale model Lancaster for his own enjoyment and this he says tells him enough or what he needs to know without turning into some sort of supposed expert plus we both live not far from the only (still flying) Lancaster in the UK based at RAF Coningsby Lincolnshire, being part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight so quite handy for the odd photo for reference points. Overall a good book and read. 5 Stars
