Product Description

For nearly three decades, New York hardcore legends SICK OF IT ALL have continued to deliver classic hardcore records time and time again. In 2011, they released Based On A True Story via Century Media, with the vinyl released by Think Fast. It was quickly considered the bands heaviest effort since the 94 classic Scratch The Surface and the vinyl quickly went out of print. Fast forward to 2014, and just in time for Record Store Day, Think Fast is once again bringing Based On A True Story back into press, complete with a gatefold jacket and SOIAs iconic dragon logo embossed on the front cover.

'Blood, Sweat, and No Tears' blew me away back in the late 80's when I was introduced to Sick of it All while letting my friend put in a cassette tape a buddy of his had dubbed for him while we skated. Ever since, I've listened to Sick of it All. The lyrical sincerity, the gritty guitars, and the skull-crushing drums always put a smile on my face. Everything this band puts out somehow topples their previous effort. I knew they would have a bit of a challenge on their hands topping their previous effort, 'Death to Tyrants,' but in true SOIA fashion, they outdid themselves. The production on the last album and this album really embody how Sick of it All sound live and is something I've always hoped they could bottle in the studio. Tue Madsen does an amazing production job. Standout tracks are 'The Divide,' 'Dominated,' 'Waiting for the Day,' and the tribute to CBGB's Sunday H/C matinee shows, 'A Month of Sundays.' Their dedication to their craft and their unwavering spirit is truly a rare find nowadays in hardcore, though it makes sense for a band that helped put this style of music on the map to still be an uncompromising force. Highly recommended.
