I first read this 40 years ago. Really enjoyable. Now reading this again in my later years after more life experience it is clear that Karpis was a sociopath. As were many of his cohorts. But he was smart. It is disappointing that in his epilogue he goes out of his way to offer no apologies for his actions. A perfect sociopath.
