In a moving elegy, one of America's most powerful writers recreates his father's ordeal as, suffering from a brain tumor, he battles with the ignominy and helplessness of old age
Philip Roth is a great writer and every book I have read of him has left something worth thinking of. This book is an autobiography that tells us about the last 2 or 3 years of the life of his father. he manages to convey all the love and admiration he felt for him in his description as a strong man in his youth and all the admiration he had for him. He mainly narrates the experience shared with his father when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and all the feelings both had. It tells us of an emotional daily ride on the path to his end. We feel his love, fear, anxiety, and anger sometimes. A moving book that left sadness and admiration for these terrible experiences people have to live.
